Eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded to participants in the Battle of Rorke's Drift, on the 22nd and 23rd of January 1879, during the Anglo–Zulu War. Seven of these were awarded to soldiers of the 2nd/24th Regiment of Foot, and this is the greatest number won by a single unit during a single action.
